What are Anxiety Disorders?
Anxiety Disorders include a wide variety of difficulties including Panic Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Separation Anxiety Disorder and several others. They all have in common an experience of discomfort, frequently nervousness or fearfulness that can affect your mood, sleep and appetite and interfere with work, school and relationships with family and friends. ‘Self medicating’ with alcohol and other recreational or prescribed medications can be problematic as they can be effective in the short term while resulting in dependence or abuse.
Symptoms of Anxiety Disorders
Anxiety Disorders are common and include feelings of nervousness, apprehension and /or fearfulness. You could experience anxiety attacks that lead to feelings of a ‘fight or flight’ response or a more pervasive feeling of unease and uncertainty.
If anxiety is severe and has been present for some time it can lead to changes in mood especially depression or you may notice experiencing happiness and spontaneity is lessened by the feelings of nervousness.
